Jerry Banse (vocals and guitar). Jerry began writing and performing original music in the 1980s moving on to composing songs for professional New Zealand theatre in the 1990’s. He performed and toured with shows in New Zealand and overseas. Jerry started Soul Paua with Turei Reedy in 2002, releasing their first album that year and performing and recording in New Zealand internationally since then. Jerry lives Dunedin.

Maurice Banse (vocals and guitar). Maurice has been with Soul Paua since the start in 2002, and with his brother Jerry is one of its two songwriters and lead vocalists. Maurice regularly performed his original music on the Auckland live music scene for nearly 20 years. He has also performed in Italy, Vancouver, the Edinburgh Festival, and opened as a solo artist for international artists such as George Benson. Maurice lives in Auckland.

Jonas Julio (guitar and keys). Jonas joined Soul Paua in 2010 for its tour to Vancouver, after graduating from Auckland’s Massey University School of Music jazz course. He has taught music in Auckland and is a regular performer at live music venues across the region. Jonas has backed some of New Zealand’s leading live acts such as the Roger Fox Big Band, Jordan Luck, The Rocky Horror Show and Java Jazz. Jonas lives in Auckland.

He has provided beats for New Zealand greats including Hollie Smith, Trinity Roots, and Rhombus. He is currently a member of New Zealand monsters - Shapeshifter. As well as playing drums for Soul Paua, Darren also engineered and recorded Soul Paua’s new album at his Boom Clack Studios, in Brooklyn, Wellington.

Turei started Soul Paua with Jerry in 2002 after writing music together for theatre during the 1990s. Turei had a long stint in New Zealand TV and film in the 80s and 90s before moving into legal and government work in the late 1990s. Turei lives in Wellington.

Moses’ musical skills were developed through the NZ Youth Choir, the NZ Opera and international operatic study. He supported himself in the early days playing live in Auckland bars and venues. Moses performed backing vocals and arranged instrumentation for one of the songs on the new Soul Pāua album, and is a collaborator on live performances where his schedule allows. Moses lives in Auckland.
